Education
The area aims at studying education through research that problematize the relations between state and society in Brazil and that deepen the knowledge about the training and teacher practices in different educational settings.
Research Lines
LINE 1: PUBLIC EDUCATION: AGENTS AND PRACTICES
Investigates the condition and training of the teacher, teacher and educators practices in different educational settings, levels and types of education, setting of the teaching identity, teaching and learning processes and assessment practices. It also investigates the relation family school in different social backgrounds, school trajectories and social inequalities of schooling and gender, ethnicity, and education. Projects of this line address issues relating to the professional socialization process, teaching learning, construction of knowledge, social representations, rural education, alternating pedagogy, identity formation, teaching work, professional development of teachers, school trajectories and family educational practices.

LINE 2: EDUCATION, INSTITUTIONS, MEMORY AND SUBJECTIVITY
Undertakes studies on issues relating to the production of subjectivity, studies in everyday, instituting processes, time, memories, cultures and technologies involving formal and non-formal educational processes at different institutions. Investigates the construction modes of experience of reality in its complexity – the historical, political, technological, social and emotional aspects – questioning different, and often unique, ways to exist in everyday educational practices. Projects of this line address issues such as student life, technology in education, socio-technical change in work and education, history of educational institutions, complexity and studies in daily school.

LINE 3: HUMAN EDUCATION, POLICIES AND SOCIAL PRAXIS
Addresses contemporary education from the perspective of educational policy, both the state’s point of view as the social movements and organizations. Analyzes the theoretical and methodological approaches of the working world, sustainability and people’s experiences, artistic expression and educational alternations. Seeks to understand the complex relationships between rural and urban areas focusing on the movement of reality and the emancipation of collective agents.
